A hallux valgus operation, and especially the post-operative period, is a painful matter. The reduced mobility, caused by the plaster, the Barouk boot and the use of crutches, plays tricks on many patients.

Big toe fixated, patient is mobile

A considerable number of ladies will be able to testify to the big toe being pushed inwards as a result of often wearing narrow shoes for many years. On the long term, this crooked growth can become problematic and painful. With the hallux valgus operation, the toe is put straight again by taking away a small piece of bone. The reduced mobility, the prolonged use of crutches and the Barouk shoe often cause rehabilitation to be very trying and can lead to overburdening one’s healthy leg.

This is not the case with the Bunion Boot which, thanks to its unique design, holds the big toe perfectly in position. The pneumatic forefoot pad of the orthopaedic “boot” on the instep can be inflated. Through the extra pressure that arises in this way, the swelling and formation of oedema are prevented, the pain is reduced and healing is accelerated.

The bottom of the boot has a unique “rocker” design with a heel piece, a flat centre part and a sloping part in front, which allow the foot to neatly roll off and the 3 phases of the natural gait are supported perfectly. The “automolding” foam insole takes on the form of the foot through the pressure exercised, so that it is kept beautifully stable. The big toe is therefore laid in a type of loop for extra fixation.
